Find Courses You Want to Take
The Department of Scandinavian excels in course design and quality of instruction—you are sure to find an interesting course in our offerings each year! Ranging from lecture courses with around 50–60 students to more seminar-style discussion classes of 12–15, the curriculum provides students with a variety of learning contexts. Concept-driven courses and topics are often comparative or interdisciplinary in scope, engaging with multiple forms of Nordic cultural production: folklore, mythology, literature, film and television, theater, and history. Some courses focus on individual canonical national authorships; others work in broader Nordic cultural paradigms. If you would like hints about upcoming courses beyond what appears in the published Berkeley Academic Guide, please contact the department’s current Undergraduate or Graduate Faculty Adviser.
