Negation and Erasure in Burcu Sahin’s Poetry Collection Bloodbook

The Department of Scandinavian presents a talk by

Lea Allouche
University of Oslo
Visiting Scholar, UC Berkeley

Lea Allouche, current visiting scholar at Berkeley, will talk about the use of negation and erasure in Swedish poet Burcu Sahin’s second poetry collection Bloodbook (2022). This poetry collection about imperialist archives, monuments, and memorials is stylistically a radical continuation of Sahin’s earlier explorations of how meaning can be created though erasure and negation. This talk will discuss the ways this comes about in the poems.
